Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you might want to know about Dokyo, the privacy-first, lightweight workspace hosted in Europe.
What is Dokyo?
Dokyo is a privacy-first, lightweight workspace for documents, notes, databases, and real-time collaboration. It is a fast Notion alternative hosted entirely in Europe, with no third-party tracking.
Is Dokyo free?
Yes. Dokyo is free to use: there is no trial period, no credit card required, and no paid tier. The built-in AI assistant is free too, within generous daily and weekly usage limits, and you can disable it in one click if you would rather not have it.
What happens when the Beta ends? Will Dokyo start charging?
No. The Beta label describes how mature the product is, not a countdown on pricing. Dokyo does not become a paid plan when Beta ends, and there is no paid tier planned. You can export your data at any time from your account settings.
Can I try Dokyo without creating an account?
Yes. We publish a real Dokyo page with the product’s own public sharing feature, so you can see the editor, formatting, and databases in a live page before signing up. No account and no installation needed.
Is Dokyo a Notion alternative?
Yes. Dokyo offers the core capabilities people use Notion for, such as a block-based rich editor, databases with multiple views, and team collaboration, while staying lightweight, fast, and privacy-first, with European hosting and no third-party tracking.
Where is my data stored?
All Dokyo infrastructure runs on servers in the European Union. Your data never leaves the EU and is encrypted both in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest on encrypted volumes.
Does Dokyo track me or sell my data?
No. Dokyo includes no analytics trackers, no ad networks, and no fingerprinting. There is no Google Analytics and no Meta Pixel. We do not sell your data.
Does Dokyo support real-time collaboration?
Yes. Multiple people can edit the same page at the same time with live cursors and instant updates. Edits merge without conflicts thanks to a CRDT-based synchronization engine.
Does Dokyo have an AI assistant?
Yes. Dokyo includes a free AI assistant that can draft, edit, and summarize content, and act on your workspace by creating pages, databases, and views. The first time you open it, it asks for your explicit consent: until you accept, no content is sent to any AI provider, and the same screen lets you disable and hide the assistant in one click. You can also bring your own API key.
How do I get started?
Just create a free account at app.dokyo.app. There is nothing to install or set up: your workspace is created for you when you register, so you open the app in your browser and start writing. See the usage guide for a quick walkthrough.
Is Dokyo GDPR compliant?
Dokyo is designed around GDPR principles: data minimization, purpose limitation, and user rights. You can export or delete your data at any time from your account settings.
