Using the AI Assistant
Dokyo includes a free AI assistant that can draft and edit content and act on your workspace. It asks for your explicit consent before any content is sent to an AI provider, and one click disables and hides it for good.
Dokyo ships with a built-in AI assistant. It is free to use, it asks for your explicit consent before any content leaves your workspace, and if you do not want it, it is disabled in one click.
What the assistant can do
The assistant helps with writing:
- Draft content: generate a first version of a document or section.
- Edit and rewrite: improve tone, fix grammar, or shorten text.
- Summarize: condense long pages into key points.
- Answer questions: chat with the assistant for help while you work.
It can also act on your workspace when you ask it to:
- Pages: create, rename, duplicate, move, and delete pages, or append to one.
- Databases: create a database, add properties, add and update rows in bulk.
- Views: add a kanban, calendar, or chart view and configure it.
- Navigation: search your pages and open the one you mean.
Consent, and turning it off
The assistant is available from the moment you sign in, but it starts inert. The first time you open the panel, Dokyo asks you to consent, because using AI sends the content of your request to an external provider. Until you accept, nothing is sent anywhere.
On that same screen, next to Accept, sits Disable and hide AI. One click turns the feature off and removes the assistant from the app entirely, launcher included. You can bring it back later from Settings → AI.
Free, with fair-use limits
The assistant included with Dokyo costs nothing and needs no API key. Because every request costs the instance real money, it comes with daily and weekly credit limits; the AI panel shows how much of your allowance you have used. If you want to go beyond them, switch to bring your own key in Settings → AI: usage is then unlimited and billed directly by your provider. Your API key is stored in your browser and sent straight to the provider, so it never touches the Dokyo server.
How your data is handled
No document content is sent to any AI provider unless you actively use the feature. When you do use it, the content of your request is sent to the configured AI provider only to generate a response.
The AI provider used by Dokyo is GDPR compliant. Requests are processed under a data processing agreement, your inputs are not used to train the provider's models, and they are not retained beyond what is needed to return a response.
